About AIM

AIM’s mission is to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in medical sciences and clinical practice. The academic AI in Medicine (AIM) program is housed at Mass General Brigham (MGB) and brings together investigators from Harvard-affiliated hospitals, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as academic institutions including Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

AIM consists of multiple independent laboratories and centralizes AI expertise stimulating cross-pollination among clinical and technical expertise areas. AIM provides a common platform to address a wide range of clinical challenges, while considering ethical implications surrounding privacy, security, fairness, and accountability. Our multidisciplinary research team includes data scientists, computer scientists, and physicians and promotes an environment of active collaboration on translational computational research efforts. AIM has a central focus on AI development, research, clinical translation and trials. The research publications, developments of novel AI technologies, and faculty career development that result from these efforts will serve to leverage these novel technologies into real improvements in patient care.
