Subha Perni

Dr. Subha Perni is a senior resident at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. Her research interests are in oncology, artificial intelligence, and bioethics. Current work focuses on the application of artificial intelligence techniques to development of imaging biomarkers for survival and treatment-related toxicity in oncology. She also has a background in bioethics, with prior research in informed consent, disparities, and moral distress. Her work in this domain currently centers on decision-making and communication around the use of advanced technologies, with specific focus on the human factor challenges associated with rational and ethical integration of artificial intelligence systems into clinical workflows and graduate medical education.

 She received her undergraduate degree with high honors in Philosophy from Princeton University, and won the Class of 1869 Prize in Ethics for her work in moral decision-making. She earned her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, and won the Knapp scholarship for highest academic achievement, the Robert F. Loeb award for excellence in clinical medicine, and the Glasgow-Rubin award for women graduating in the top 10% of the class. She completed her medical internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
